Calling ALL Perpetua athletes…

On Saturday 26 July, CrossFit Perpetua will attempt to lift 1 million kg from Ground to Overhead for charity. We’re going to get creative to achieve the target, think snatch, C&J, kettlebells, med balls, 10kg/20kg plate reps. It all counts!! We’ve done the math: 25,000 x clean & jerk @ 40kg = 1,000,000kg … aka 667 hippos, 7 blue whales or 66 London buses. So we’re gonna need some help!

There will be prizes and freebies throughout the afternoon, supported by Icon Nutrition, Monster Supplements, PHD, Get Buzzing and others. Not to mention DJ Corey spinning his wheels of steel.

The event will start straight after Saturday morning’s classes at 11am – it’s going to make for an awesome day.

Feel free to bring friends along to give them a flavour of the awesome spirit at Perpetua. There will be beginners WODs as well as more advanced movements.

This event is part of a wider 1 million kg global event called ‘Lift4Cancer’ which is taking place in over 40 boxes across 4 continents around the world on the same day. We have created a good buzz on social media and we want to make this as big as possible! Check out more details here: https://www.facebook.com/Lift4Cancer?ref_type=bookmark

WHY?

CrossFit Perpetua’s Rich Gibbs and some close friends are travelling to the Arctic Circle next March to take on the Arctic Circle Race – the world’s toughest cross country ski race – in order to raise money for Ski4Cancer. Their target is £40,000 + and the 1 million kg throwdown is the first big fundraising attempt.

The Charity

Ski4Cancer is a small charity which provides alpine-based respite and support for cancer sufferers and their families. They also provide grants to cancer care centres and support research into the positive effects of exercise and how it can help prevent cancer and aid recovery post-diagnosis. Smaller charities need all the help they can get and as a cancer respite charity with a sporting focus, the relevance of CrossFit to this is obvious.
