1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

I started a company 5 years ago called Capital Living. We rent houses from landlords and then kit the places out to a high spec and rent them room by room to nice young professionals. We are an exclusive community so you need to pass an interview/be referred to join, we then offer an all inclusive price that includes all bills and even annoying little things like light bulbs and loo roll which we replace monthly! We also love a social event like CFP and run monthly night outs and events for all our members. I love what I do and I get to meet and work with some great people.

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

A previous gym I was at entered a few of us in the Open last year – I got owned (having never done most of the movements before) and after that a few of us decided to look at actual CF’s in the area. Jess Long (Now Perpetua Dublin) referred me to Rusty and BOOM the rest is history.

3> When did you first join CFP?

21st July this year

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

A horrible thruster workout – I remember everyone saying “jeez this is a tough WOD for your first one”. sweet 🙂

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

After my first WOD I was hooked, the energy in the gym and the level of some of the other members were at was frankly inspiring. I hadn’t seen anything like it before.

6> What are your short term goals?

To get in the Competitors Squad and try and get a top 1000 finish in Europe in the Open next year

7> Long term goals?

To represent the Box in competitions and depending on how unrealistic my short term goal is to achieve that then set another.

8> What is your greatest accomplishment?

Hang Clean 100KG on comp day (John Meegan Cup) vs Perpetua Dublin (see photo). Everyone was behind me and the adrenalin from the support of everyone added 10kgs to my previous PB!!! Thanks all!

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

I bloody love a handstand pushup

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

F****ing Pistols. I will have you soon

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

Yes I have already referred some people the gym; my advise is now be patient, learn the basics and it’s a marathon not a sprint – Amen.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

1D rubbish – this came on the other day – fail. Favourite music has to be upbeat dance/electro; Rusty’s playlist is normally pretty good but I also enjoy some of Ozzie’s gangster rap too…

13> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest CFP moment?

The John Meegan Cup comp day vs Perpetua Dublin – some great sportsmanship at the competition and a wicked night out afterwards – a true reflection of what the gym is all about.

1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

Work – as little as possible but if I have to I deliver technological business transformation programmes. Fun for me is eating good food and shopping – for anything except groceries!

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

Having previously been a competitive bodybuilder I was tired of my gym routine and constant dieting and needed something new and exciting in my fitness routine.

3> When did you first join CFP?

May 2014

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

I actually don’t have a clue – but I’m sure it involved running!

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

After trying my first set of open workouts early this year and then going to watch all the action at regionals.

6> What are your short term goals?

Definitely to nail muscle-ups and maintain a consistent level of overall conditioning

7> Long term goals?

Fran unbroken and to lift a body weight snatch with good form!

8> What is your greatest accomplishment?

The journey from the start of my CrossFit affair, to where I am now.

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

Anything heavy – but my all time fave is deadlifts, and has been for as long as I can remember.

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

Hmmm…tough choice between running, double unders, burpees, box jump – basically anything gassy …..but its actually my dislike of these that gets me through the WODs but as my Mother would say – practice makes perfect

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

Yes. All day. Every day. Pick a good box, with good coaches – there really is something for everyone, no matter what your ability.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

Love – US funky house Hate – heavy metal that just sounds like shouting
