Tell us a bit about yourself…what do you do for work and for fun?
Six months ago, I had the opportunity to start my own business as a Fashion Stylist and Personal Shopper. I’m interested in anything that is related to art, creativity, expressing your own personality and making people feel amazing! I love meeting new people and I like anything you can do outdoors, visiting new places and sharing great adventures with my friends.

How did you get involved in CrossFit and when did you first join CrossFit Perpetua?
I first got involved in CrossFit around 2 years ago – it was love at first sight! I joined CrossFit Perpetua just 2 months ago.

What was your first WOD in the classes?
4 rounds for max reps:
60sec shoulder to overhead, 30 sec rest
60sec double unders, 30sec rest
Total: 217 reps

I would have never remembered it if it wasn’t for my training journal. I think it’s important to keep track of your daily, weekly and monthly progress so when you look back, you can have a better perspective on how far you’ve come and be proud of all the hard work you put in every single day! (CFP says: Couldn’t agree with you more Maria!)

When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?
As soon as I got introduced to CrossFit and watched few clips of the Games, I realised it was exactly what I was looking for since I got back to training in 2011 after 5 years of “laziness”.

What are your short term and long term goals?
My short term goal is to improve my upper body strength and definitely my mobility. As a long term goal I would definitely say to develop all my skills and be able to compete as an elite athlete and why not? Compete at the Games! Dreams are never too big!!

What is your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment was to be able to get my confidence back and fight many mental blocks I had after a bad injury that got me off training for 2 months in April/May 2014

What is your favourite WOD / movement?
It’s a tough one because I like most of the movements, but I would say deadlifts and cleans are my favourites.

What is your least favourite WOD / movement?
Definitely any WOD that includes wall balls!!!! (CFP says: Pretty sure this is the most common answer to this question…

Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?
I would always recommend CrossFit. I would advise them to take every day step by step and be happy about every little progress made towards their goals. This applies not just in CrossFit but in life too!

Favourite song to WOD to (least favourite song to wod to)
At the moment my favourite one is Chris Brown & Lil Wayne “I can transform ya”. It’s from Maria’s playlist by the way, it rocks! 😉 (CFP says: Great name, great taste in music 😉 )

A northerner that loves a beer…. (shock!!) I’ve lived in London about 18 months and work for a Home Technology company based in Fulham. I’ve played rugby all my life and stopped 2 years ago due to injuries.

How did you get involved in CrossFit?
Met Sal at a nearby gym and he persuaded me to come have a look.

When did you first join CrossFit Perpetua?
September 2013

What are your short term and long term goals?
Mmmmm…. sort my shitting double unders out!

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Beating Popey in a WOD…. Not sure it will ever happen again.

What is your favourite WOD / movement?
Anything fast

What is your least favourite WOD / movement?
Double unders

Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?
Yes. Just get after it. (CFP says: Simple. Straightforward. To the point. We like your style, Dan)

Funniest thing that you’ve seen / has happened to you at CrossFit?
During one of the WODs in the 1,000,000kg Throwdown, I looked across the room at Luke Farrell killing it. Then he just paused dropped his bar had a swig of a beer then carried on as if it was normal! (CFP says: Wait…. That’s not normal??

Favourite song to WOD to?
Disclosure – When a fire starts to burn
