1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

I own a burger place called Bunsen. We are opening a new restaurant at the end of January so I am focused on that right now… Beyond that I like to travel, eat nice food and I actually passed my grade 1 in Piano last week…so….ladies watch out!

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

A friend of mine brought me down to Blackrock a few years ago.

3> When did you first join CFP?

I was in Blackrock for 2 months in 2012, then central for 3 months in 2013 but have been going for consistently for the last year.

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

Filthy 50 is the earliest I remember….a lot of flailing.

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

I enjoyed it from the start. It was just the sort of physical education I didn’t get in school. I like the class dynamic and the fact the programming is done for you in a considered way. It’s a good combination of encouragement and competition….and then I met Ryan!

6> What are your short term goals?

Handstand walk, pistol on my left leg, consecutive muscle ups…increased self-worth & transcendence…all the usual stuff I guess.

7> Long term goals?

Slowly but methodically work my way past all of Conor Hillick’s PB’s.

8> What is your greatest accomplishment?

Did a muscle up about 2 weeks ago which brought a certain smugness I suppose.

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

Wall balls/skipping/running. Karen.

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

Don’t really ‘get’ the whole Turkish get up…/ Hollow arch to hollow hold.

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

I would and have. Great community and good for body and mind.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

I prefer dance to rock. I remember Awolnation ‘Sail’ used to be a big favourite. I couldn’t get it out of my head that it would be a great song to use in an advertisement for a ‘sale’ and that then started annoying me a lot in long tough wods when it would come on. Quite specific…

13> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest CFP moment?

About 2 weeks in to my CF experience that ‘7 minutes of burpees’ workout came up. I was in pretty bad shape. I barely remember the last 2 minutes. I was delirious, falling back down to the ground like a dead body each time. All the while Michael Price was screaming “EMPTY THE TANK” at me after each rep. I guess that experience stuck with me…

First class is a bit of a blur…do remember every one been friendly and helpful which made it easier to come back to the second class

From the start – I don’t like not been able to do something so when I did the intro and realised there were a lot of movements I couldn’t do I was hooked
