1> Where are you from?

Tullow in the charming county of Carlow – I know we can’t all be lucky enough to be from there and have my melodic accent

2> When you’re not at Perpetua what do you do for work and for fun?

I do a bit of product development/ actuarial stuff for an Italian insurance company. Basically I look at spreadsheets and eat jellies for the day. And no before you ask I can’t get you cheap car insurance it’s a life company!

3> How did you find out about CrossFit?

Through a friend. She was always on about it so I said I would come see what all the fuss was about.

4> How long have you been a member at Perpetua?

9 months, feels like it’s been a lot longer though!

5>Why do you do Crossfit?

I always went to the gym but I got to the stage where I stopped seeing any results and if I’m being honest I stopped enjoying it as much as I used to. Now the variety in the workouts and the fact that I’m not just going through the motions anymore make it so much more enjoyable (I’m not sure if enjoyable is the correct word here maybe tolerable)

6> How often do you train?

4/5 times a week

7> What are your fitness goals?

To get a pull up and a handstand – I’m pretty sure that’s what everyone says tho!

8> What is your greatest achievement?

I signed up for the nutrition challenge here and went to the cinema at the weekend…..first time I can remember I actually went just to watch a film! I nearly had to blindfold myself but I made it past the pick n mix wall J

9> What or who motivates you?

I don’t know I guess I just hate having things hanging over me so I like getting things done if that makes sense?

That and the ever cheerful 6am crew, otherwise i’d probably still be in bed like a normal person at that hour!

10> What is your favourite and least favourite WOD or movement?

Favourite: Stretching. We really should incorporate more of that into the classes and less physical activity………..

Least favourite: The assault bike – does anyone ever answer anything different?!

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them starting out?

100%. I would tell them to stick at it, it might be tough at the start but it’s definitely worth it – L’Oreal n that 😉

12> Favourite cheat meal?

If every meals a cheat meal is that still a question?

13> Favourite thing about Perpetua?

The sense of community and how everyone is so friendly and encourages each other. And of course the top class coaches who really push you when u need that gentle nudge and encourage u everyday ……will that get me one less WOD on the assault bike?!

14> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest moment at Perpetua?

………probably best being left off this!

1> Where are you from?

I’m from Dublin. C’mon you boys in blue!!

2> When you’re not at Perpetua what do you do for work and for fun?

I’m a project manager in telecoms. It’s not too bad, I get to travel to a few nice places like Singapore, Canada, Dubai, Prague to name a few. I’ve done a few CF classes when I travel too… Perpetua is by far the best!!
I love my sports, mostly football and GAA. I’m also a sucker for a few pints of Guinness on the weekend. So it’s great when I can combine both hobbies.

3> How did you find out about CrossFit?

Well… I was a member of FlyeFit for a few years going on and off, I wasn’t really seeing any results and basically guilting myself into going all the time. When early last year a friend in work asked me to try CrossFit out with him. I didn’t have a clue what it was, but he said it would really improve my fitness. After a few sessions of the fundamentals with Eoghan, I knew it was the business!!

4> How long have you been a member at Perpetua?

I’ve been a member a year and a few months now.

5>Why do you do Crossfit?

When I started it was all about losing weight, but now I like the mental toughness aspect and the continuous learning/improving everyday.

6> How often do you train?

I try to do the 5 CF classes Mon-Fri, the gymnastics class and the Saturday Team WOD. I also play indoor football during the week too.

7> What are your fitness goals?

I want to be able to do Rx at next year’s Open.

8> What is your greatest achievement?

Fitness related, it was shredding 30lbs last year. I honestly never thought it was possible.

9> What or who motivates you?

I don’t have any big motivation. I like to set goals realistic goals for myself and work towards them. I recently got my first ring muscle up. At the moment I am trying to get double unders… Yes, I’m the reason the the red skipping ropes are getting smaller, I keep knocking the rope off the handles in my efforts.

10> What is your favourite and least favourite WOD or movement?

I love the Saturday team WODs… Shout to my WOD buddy Rossi.
11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them starting out?

100% I would. My advise would be to stick it out a few weeks, and you will start seeing small changes in your fitness and your life outside fitness.

12> Favourite cheat meal?

I don’t see drinking Guinness as cheating… So, burger and chips.

13> Favourite thing about Perpetua?

There is a sign at the locker area, that says “leave the ego at the door”. That’s 100% here in Perpetua for all coaches and members… No matter if you’re are here years or it’s your first day, everybody is friendly and will encourage you to do your best.

14> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest moment at Perpetua?

The most memorable… Was a team WOD with running, burpees and KB swings. Me and Rossi decided to do Rx weights and set a goal not to come last. We genuinely thought we would be on the lower scale time wise. However, it wasn’t until the last round we realise we are leading it. We lost it in the last few meters of the run. But we were still chuffed we are able to exceed our goal by so much!!
