Congratulations to Perpetua’s Athlete of the Month – Anna Klaile!
Congratulations to this month’s Perpetua Athlete of the Month Anna Klalle! Anna is a very dedicated member, she is always consistent with her training and has been making great progress recently! Keep it up Anna!
1> Where are you from?
I’m from the country of Angry Birds, Sauna and Santa. Yes, you guessed correctly: Finland.
2> When you’re not at Perpetua what do you do for work and for fun?
I recently started working as a partner manager at Facebook. For fun – anything outdoors, traveling and food (more so eating than cooking).
3> How did you find out about CrossFit?
Back in Finland I taught LesMills and freestyle classes throughout Uni and just before I moved to Dublin my gym opened up a small box so I got to try a couple of classes. In Dublin I struggled to find a gym that I liked, I tried at least 10 different ones before Perpetua. What sealed the deal was seeing a Youtube clip of Sara Sigmundsdóttir absolutely crush a WOD and a couple of days later I walked through the doors of Perpetua for an intro session with Andy.
4> How long have you been a member at Perpetua?
For roughly a year now.
5> Why do you do CrossFit?
It’s fun and challenging and after every workout I go home thinking about what I could improve the next time – the list of things to get better at grows longer day by day.
6> How often do you train?
CrossFit 4–5 times a week and hot yoga or astanga 1–2 times a week.
7>What are your fitness goals?
Getting stronger, faster, more flexible and better at gymnastics. In other words, pretty much everything. And handstands, always handstands.
8> What is your greatest achievement?
Holding a free standing handstand for 4 seconds and the muscle up that I am going to get one day. Finishing the Stockholm marathon a couple of years back is high up there too.
9> What or who motivates you?
The energy and feeling I get from a tough workout and giving it my all. Also, a big shoutout to the super motivating, bad ass women at Perpetua!
10> What is your favourite and least favourite WOD or movement?
Longer workouts and anything with a barbell (except thrusters!). Anything gymnastics related is also on the favourite side, just because the smallest improvement feels like a massive win.
Wall balls are my enemy.
11>Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them starting out?
One by one I have convinced my family to start, or at least try, CrossFit. In terms of advice, I’ve wished them good luck!
12>Favourite cheat meal?
Ice cream. My record is 7 in one day.
13> Favourite thing about Perpetua?
Easy: the people!
14>Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest moment at Perpetua? One of the first times I did wall balls my arms were very tired so I caught the ball with my face!
I also find it quite funny that most of the time I have no idea what Conor is saying (but don’t tell him) #languagebarriers
