1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

Outside of the box I eat, a lot. When I’m not eating, I work as a barrister, specialising in Bribery & Corruption. I apply what little fitness I have to cricket, rugby and golf.

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

My first WOD was in a gym in my home town, some 4 years ago, with a home made GHD machine. This, in reality, was a bench and my mate holding my ankles while I flailed about.

3> When did you first join CFP?

September 2013. Two years has flown by! I first started regularly crossfitting when I moved to London, fresh out of Law School. I was a member of Gymbox and was coached by Rusty in what were CrossFit style classes. When he moved to CFP, so did I.

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

Absolutely no idea, as it was two years ago …

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

I’m pretty lazy in the gym if I am left to my own devices, so I immediately connected with being told what to do, for how long and being in a competitive environment.

6> What are your short term goals?

Look good naked, obviously.

7> Long term goals?

To be leaner, meaner and knock out muscle ups for fun.

8> What is your greatest accomplishment?

My first triple figure clean and jerk has been a highlight, during a competition at CrossFitt Thames. Other than that, I have made some great friends in what is a truly unique community.

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

Any oly lifting, that’s my jam.

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

Running sucks. ‘Triple Three’ is not how I will be spending time during my Bank Holidays moving forward.

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

On one hand, yes. It’s a great way to train as I feel it teaches you a lot about responsibility, specifically for your own movement standards and what you put in your body. I also find it helps me to reflect and asses where I am, both in and out of the gym.

On the other hand, no. I like going somewhere I can workout with my mates and leave everything else at the door. Some I’m happy to be selfish and keep it for myself.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

Any dance, house or dubstep to WOD to. Lift to some gangsta rap. We’ve seen some 2000’s tunes pop up recently too.

Least favourite? I’m generally easily pleased.

13> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest CFP moment?

Going down to Swanage this year for Land and Wave. Great group, even better dancing and some pretty poor chat from T-Pow and I when attempting to chat to some of the local Swanai, but that’s a story for another time.

1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

I run a Nanny recruitment company called KiwiOz Nannies – Not a lot of fun happening outside that right now as I’m hoping to take the winter off to go snowboarding 😊

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

A couple of friends from my thai boxing gym recommended it

3> When did you first join CFP?

Been here 6 months now!

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

Errr, I’m not that observant so no idea! I think the only WOD I actually remember the name of is Fight Gone Bad. Probably because it’s so aptly named and brought back some terrifying memories of actual fights gone bad…..

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

Loved it from my first session.

6> What are your short term goals?

Improve EVERYTHING

7> Long term goals?

Beat Ren in a WOD

8> What is your greatest accomplishment?

Im pretty proud of my company and my Thai Boxing World Title

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

Well it was Squats until Friday’s technique session with Rusty brought me back down to earth with a thump!

Thrusters give a certain satisfaction

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

Running! Pull ups! Rowing, burpees, box jumps….how many can I choose?

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

Definitely. Don’t go too heavy too quickly and work hard on your mobility.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

Anything chilled out does nothing for me.

To be honest, my workout music taste is pretty bad…. Nickelback features strongly and the rest is too embarrassing to tell you.

Favourite workout track is Limp Bizkit-‘Break stuff’ and someone at CFP actually has it on their playlist! I think it’s Rusty. He’s my hero

13> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest CFP moment?

There’s generally quite a lot of hilarity in CFP classes! The day of Mario’s Stripper Sit-ups springs to mind 😂
