1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

In my spare time I write in my health and fitness blog (www.thewellnessedit.com) and I currently work for lululemon while I receive my PT certification. I love a fun night out with friends, traveling, cycling, a good book and skiing. Oh and if you know me well enough, you already know I have a slight obsession with cats.

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

In 2012 I joined a box in Florida while I was back home for the summer. After living in London for just over a year I grew bored of the same gym routines and decided it was time to get back into it.

3> When did you first join CFP?

June 2015.

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

I can’t remember for the life of me, but my first WOD before graduating fundamentals was the iconic Fight Gone Bad. I am going to have to retest myself soon and see what number I get this time!

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

I few years ago I was in bed on my laptop and stumbled across a youtube video called, “What is crossfit?” It was basically love at first sight.

6> What are your short term goals?

5 strict pull-ups, double-unders and mastering handstands.

7> Long term goals?

Muscle ups!

8> What is your greatest accomplishment this year?

This year, running my first half-marathon in honour of my older brother and raising over €1,000 for cancer research.

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

I really enjoyed Grace last week. Anything to do with oly lifting makes me happy!

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

I can’t imagine a much worse mix than kettle-bells and the assault bike..

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

I undoubtedly would. I’d tell them that it might seem intimidating at first, but with time the box you chose will become your second home.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

Anything rap or with a strong beat is my go-to music. Least favourite when it comes to working out would have to be rock.

13> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest CFP moment?

Ah, too many to count! The amount of laughs shared at the box is just another reason I love Perpetua.

1> What do you do outside of CrossFit for work and for fun?

I work as Chauffeur/ Executive driver and am in the process of starting my own Executive car company.

Unfortunately, these days I’m very busy with work so I don’t get to do much but I love swimming and used to go at least 3 times a week. I also started bouldering, even at my size I was quite good at getting up a vertical wall. Hahaha! You should’ve seen the face of the staff who did my induction. She clearly didn’t think I could do it. I love scuba diving, unfortunately I missed out on my PADI license because I failed to complete 4 free dives within 1 year, I only did 2. I spent a lot of my weekends going out, drinking and chilling out with friends, that was the cause of my weight gain so I knocked it on the head and my intention is to do more outdoor and fun activities. I’d like to go paint balling next. My wife is a bit of a foodie, so we always find time to eat out, I wouldn’t want to change that.

2> How did you get involved in CrossFit?

I had never heard of Crossfit before the summer of 2015. I was told by a current member. It was just a brief description and he told me to google Crossfit Perpetua. Within a week I was meeting one of the coaches.  I am usually quite skeptical about new things and just dismiss them as fads but I must have been quite intrigued to pursue this one.

3> When did you first join Perpetua?

I started PT sessions with James around the 3rd week of July. I took 10 of those. Initially I didn’t think I’d need that much but by the end I was glad. My first class was in the first week of September.

4> What was your first WOD in the classes?

I honestly can’t remember what it was but I do remember being quite nervous about doing a class. It ws my first day at school all over again

5> When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

Hmmm, right…….lets see…… When I could put socks on without herniating myself, when I could go up a flight of stairs without sounding like Darth Vader at the top, when a whole new section of my wardrobe started fitting again, when I stopped avoiding mirrors. Basically, since I’ve seen more results in the last 2 months than I did in years of going to a conventional gym. Theres no denying that crossfit is the reason why.

6> What are your short term goals?

I want to lose a lot more fat. Healthily. Even though I have lost a fair bit, I don’t think it’s enough……not by a long shot.

7> Long term goals?

I want to be a lot fitter across the board. I want increased stamina and want to go as far as I can in terms of the weight I can lift.

8> What is your greatest accomplishment?

I feel I have accomplished quite a bit in 2 months. I focus a lot more on my workout. I push myself a lot more than I used to. I enjoy coming to the gym, I actually haven’t said to myself ‘Oh, I can’t be bothered to go today’ (that used to be my motto in other gyms). So I guess my dedication is one of my greatest accomplishments. My other is giving up smoking. Because of the pace we go at in classes, I noticed how badly I’d get out of breath and because I so wanted to do much better I took steps to cut out the fags. I’ve never done that for anything before.

9> What is your favourite WOD / movement?

I don’t have a favourite, I just love the feeling of doing a wod, completing it and getting that feeling of a good workout at the end. If I have to lie down after a WOD, I feel I have done well.

10> What is your least favourite WOD / movement?

I’d like to say that I don’t have a least favorite but I can’t…..I HATE BURPEES!!!! I’m not a fan of running either. Hahahaha!

11> Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them?

I would whole-heartedly recommend Crossfit to anyone and everyone.I wouldn’t have to say a thing. They’ve seen results for themselves. My wife is due to join soon and a few of my friends have shown some interest all because of my own results in the past 2 months. I usually take a picture of the whiteboard after every class and have shown the workout to friends, they find it both quite shocking and appealing and have expressed a desire to check it out.

12> Least favourite and favourite music to WOD to?

I’m not a fan of anything like heavy metal or the like. Other than that I’m quite easy going. So far Alexis has had the best playlists though.

13> Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest CFP moment?

Nothing like that so far but I must say Mike is a funny guy. He has cracked me up on a few occasions. Luckily for me its been either before or after a class and not while I’m standing under a barbell.
