Where are you From?

Greece

When you’re not at Perpetua what do you do for work and for fun?

When not at Perpetua I am actually studying for my master’s (A LOT).  I like to go for long walks since I want to get the most out of London

How did you find out about CrossFit?

I heard about CrossFit back in 2015 from random people – People that I initially made fun of..

How long have you been a member at Perpetua?

I have been a member at Perpetua since September 2016, enjoying every single class!

Why do you do CrossFit?

I do Crossfit to prove to myself that I can achieve what I initially thought I could not do.   I love how this community’s bond is different from any other sports I have tried before.

How often do you train?

I try to train 5-6 times per week (it hurts)

What are your fitness goals?

I dont have any conventional S.M.A.R.T goals –  but my ultimate goal is to feel like myself 100% in what I do, and be the person that motivates me and others

What is your greatest achievement?

Too shy to confess

What or who motivates you?

Kelly Reed hahaha

What is your favourite and least favourite WOD or movement?

I hate hate hate wallballs and rowing.  I love the drama queen I can be after ripping my hands on pullups

Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them starting out?

I would definitely recommend Crossfit to everyone, but I have to work on my persuasion skills. I get too excited and they feel like I’m joking about it.

Favourite cheat meal?

No favourites, just anything that’s 100% gluten and deep fried

Favourite thing about Perpetua?

Self-knowledge gainz more than anything

Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest moment at Perpetua?

Oly class making fun of my split-jerk dance move..

Meet Raf

Where are you from?

I was born in Switzerland and raised in Italy, in Treviso exactly, a small and lovely town next to Venice

When you’re not at Perpetua what do you do for work and for fun?

I work in retail for an Italian menswear company. When I’m free I like exploring London, visiting and trying new restaurants

How did you find out about CrossFit?

6 years ago in Milano, before injuring my shoulder, I was a Brazilian jiu jitsu competitor. The gym I went to had crossfit, it was a great combination because I did crossfit before every tournament.

How long have you been a member at Perpetua?

14 months.  Last year when I moved to London before even before looking for permanent accommodation, I came and visited Perpetua.

Why do you do CrossFit?

To be entirely honest, for many reasons – to keep myself healthy, for aesthetics and because I can’t picture myself not doing sport

How often do you train?

I do my very best to stick to 5 times a week, but work gets in the way sometimes, so it can be 4 times

What are your fitness goals?

Live a longer and healthier life

What is your greatest achievement?

I moved out from home when I was 18, and have been able to look after myself since then.

What or who motivates you?

I’m gonna be a father one day, and when that day comes I want to make sure that my family has all the support they need.

What is your favourite and least favourite WOD or movement?

I definitely dislike rowing, mostly because it’s a weakness of mine – but enjoy overhead Squats, Muscle ups and burpees

Would you recommend CrossFit to your friends and family? What advice would you give them starting out?

I’d recommend 3 things: A) do crossfit B) be consistent C) master the basics first.

Favourite cheat meal?

It must be pizza with buffalo mozzarella and tiramisù for dessert!

Favourite thing about Perpetua?

The amount of information, details and insights that every coach bombards you with before, during and after every class.
Bonus question: Most memorable or funniest moment at Perpetua?

It happened during this years open, 17.1 we all remember how awful it was! Baz was my judge and because he was pushing me really hard I managed to finish it, but after the last rep I literally collapsed on the floor, exhausted – I thought I was going to pass out!

I call out to Baz with my broken English “take my legs! take my legs!!”

I just wanted to say thank you to all the coaches and people who work and train in Perpetua, this is a special place for me.
