Kortney’s Going Away and Barbells and Brews Weightlifting Competition

Capital Strength Weightlifting Club are hosting a FUN, relaxed, weightlifting competition on Saturday 23rd July with special CRAFT BREWED BEER, BBQ, and WEIGHTLIFTING! Spectators are welcome and encouraged as this event will also be Coach Kortney’s very last day in Ireland and her going away party!

Please come celebrate Perpetua’s Barbell Club as they take the platform in their first open weightlifting competition and say goodbye to Kortney as she takes off back to America!

Sat 23rd July
Weigh-in: 10:00AM – 11:00AM
First lift: 12:00 noon – Beers and BBQ to follow all afternoon!!!

Enter to compete yourself or just come along to spectate and support the Perpetua Barbell Club in their first ever weightlifting competition! Also say good-bye to Coach Kortney as she heads off to America and enjoy Craft Brewed Beer and BBQ (for a small donation to the club).
How Much?
€30 euro entry fee for competitors + 1 free beer. Option to purchase a really cool T-shirt or vest too. Beer and BBQ for donations for spectators.

This event is open to all members – but enter soon as entry spaces are limited! If you plan to enter the event (most of the Barbell Club, this is YOU!) and are unsure of what numbers to use for ‘Total’, ‘Opening Snatch’ and ‘Opening Clean and Jerk’ – choose a LOW weight that you know you can EASILY hit in training with not fear of missing. You can always increase the weight on the day, but choose a very conservative number to start with. We want a day of success for your first competition! Your TOTAL will be the combined number if you add your expected snatch weight to your expected clean and jerk weight.

For example: I plan to attempt Snatch: 56, 58, 60
Clean&Jerk: 77, 80, 83
My current Total is 138, so I would fill in Snatch: 53 (low, just in case!)
C&J: 74 (low, just in case!)

Easy! Hopefully we can have a big showing from Perpetua on the Day!
