Meet Gemma, our newest apprentice at CFD. Having begun as a member at CFSL back in May 2013. Gemma was impressed with Michael and Philly’s coaching and programming and knew she wanted to work alongside them and advance her coaching.

Gemma works as a Nike Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach back in London. Gemma also founded a Women’s Weight Lifting class for gym chain GymBox back in London named ‘Ladies that Lift’. She is also a KettleBells Master Trainer and trains other coaches around London.

During this year Gemma has worked to certify many areas of CrossFit including CF L1 Trainer, Kids, and Mobility.

Here’s a little about Gemma:
“Fitness and Exercise has always been built into me from a young age. I started competing in Judo regional competitions at 5 years old, winning my first gold and went on to be the first UK female under 16 black belt. Whilst also competing in Judo, I ran 100m and 200m for Kent and England competing all over the UK.

I then progressed into Personal Trainer and over the last 3 years I have concentrated specifically on Strength and Conditioning. When I found CrossFit I knew it was where my passions would excel as both a member and coach.

Judo from a very young age taught me many things, discipline, confidence, competition and a respect for strength. It also taught me that fitness is a tool, something that can help prepare you for life. CrossFit offers lots of similar traits, the community, the gender equity, confidence, strength and the will to do better.”
