Meet Laura one of our newest apprentices

 In Blog, WOD

From as far back as I can remember I was involved in Athletics competing at County, Inter County and National level. I won the all Irelands indoors at the age of 14 and I held the Dublin Cross Country title for a number of consecutive years in my teens. I then went on to continuously do well at County and National level winning bronze in the outdoors 800m Nationals 2003 and my school relay team was 2nd two years in a row at the 4x100m at National schools level 2004/05.

After a successful 10 years competing competitively in athletics I decided to study Leisure Management and I now have a Bachelor of Science as well as a Level 1 Fitness Instructing Cert with the University of Limerick. Throughout my college years I used to run to keep fit and do a couple of gym sessions a week but wasn’t finding that too satisfying and almost became bored of it. It was when I met my boyfriend who knew Michael Price and introduced me to Crossfit when we were living in Dubai in 2012. I noticed changes in my fitness within weeks of starting Crossfit, I became stronger and more lean.

As I always knew I would have a career in fitness I wanted to know more about crossfit so this is why I wanted to start the apprentice programme with Crossfit Dublin. With some time on my hands after returning from Dubai I thought it be to a great opportunity to start the apprentice programme. I am really enjoying my first couple of weeks in the programme and picking up new skills each day. I am also looking forward to doing my level 1 Crossfit exam at the end of the month.
