Meet Maria aka T-Rex (or Rex for short)

Opt1Hello CFSLers, it’s great to meet you all!

Most of the daytime crew has probably seen me stationed in the office upstairs, descending the ladder for long enough to join the lunchtime class. I’m helping out with admin for now, but look forward to starting my apprenticeship at CFSL and leading classes soon.

I have always been physically active – gym classes and 10k runs – but didn’t really find my niche until I started CrossFit about a year and a half ago. It wasn’t long before CrossFit became a major part of my life. I was addicted not just to the sport, but also to the enjoyment I got from helping out my fellow athletes. I decided to take the leap, quit my desk job at a contemporary art gallery and start working as a CrossFit coach.

In addition to being a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer, I have my CrossFit Movement & Mobility and CrossFit Endurance certification. I have been competing in CrossFit for the past year, participating in competitions in England, Wales, France and Sweden. I am notorious for my mid-WOD dance moves, my eclectic playlists and my unabashedly American over-eagerness.

It’s been great working out with you guys and thank you for the warm welcome you have already given me! I can’t wait to get started with CFSL and be part of such a dynamic community of strong people.

Maria will be coaching the Active Recovery and Mobility Sessions every Sunday at noon,
starting 19 January.

She is also leading a double under workshop with Coach Sal on 22 February.
