Meet Matt the newest coach at CFD
Meet Matt is the newest coach at CFD. A medical student at Trinity College, Matt has been CrossFitting since 2010 and received his level 1 certification from CrossFit FirePower in Milton, Ontario. Despite being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 2, Matt played multiple sports growing up in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. Competitively, Matt played baseball and ice hockey, while playing basketball, volleyball, American football, and football in school. Matt’s participation in sport led him to an Honours Kinesiology degree from Dalhousie University, and was followed by a Master’s degree in Applied Health Sciences from Brock University with his thesis focusing on Type 1 Diabetes and exercise in different temperatures.
I was introduced to CrossFit by my roommate during my Master’s. I thought I was in shape then, and my first workout was filthy 50’s. I couldn’t breathe for 3 days. I was hooked instantly. I enjoy everything about CrossFit, especially the sense of community here at CFD. I look forward to helping CrossFitter’s reach their personal goals, and reaching some of my own. I believe in living a balanced life, which is why you’ll find me at CFD most nights after a long day of class!
