Members of the Month – Aimee & Mags

 In WOD

Aimee @CFD

CFD Member of the month
Aimee Bresllin – aka: Aimee 🙂

The reason I choose Amiee as the Blackrock member of the month is because of the unbelievable turn around I and all the coachies have seen in her over the last three months at Crossfit Dublin. She had all the attributes and attitude towards training that most Irish girls have. By that I mean the fear that Crossfit makes you big and bulky, thinking that cardio is the only answer to losing weight and getting in shape.

Aimee went from a girl who did little or no training, to training 4 times a week and going hard in every workout. I have genuinely never seen a greater turn around in someone’s’ attitude to training

Below are some Q&A’s that were completed by our first Member of the Month in CrossFit Dublin

How did you get involved in CrossFit?

  • “I started Crossfit with my friend about 3 months ago, with little to no fitness or strength. I have never been mad into fitness but my friend was adamant that I come with her so I figured it was worth a shot to see what all the hype was about. All I knew is that I wanted to find something that would help me improve my fitness level and tone up, without ‘bulking’ up

First WOD?

  • Sage (some start!)

When did you start coming to CrossFit Dublin?

  • November 2012

When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

  • To be honest, it took me about two months to get my head around it. Being so weak and unable to lift much weight when I joined, it took a while to adapt. I only took a 3 month membership because I never thought I would last (Extended it this last weekend).! I never thought I’d see the day where I actually enjoyed exercising…

Mags @CFDC

CFDC Member of the Month
Margaret Kennedy – aka:Mags

Mags possesses all of the best qualities of a CrossFitter. Mags is modest, kind, friendly, eager, very coach-able and hard working. I remember when I first met Mags I knew that she was going to be a great CrossFit athlete because of her commitment to constantly learning and bettering herself. Every week I delight in seeing her always improving and getting better as a CF athlete!!! Well done Mags!!!!

Below are some Q&A’s that were completed by our first Member of the Month in CrossFit Dublin Central.

How did you get involved in CrossFit?

  • A colleague at work is a member in Blackrock and at lunch time, I would hear all about the different WODs. I was intrigued to say the least as I had only started realising the importance of strength training alongside cardio. When she told me that CFD was opening up just around the corner from work, I sent an email enquiry, attended the first fundamentals session and I haven’t looked back since!

First WOD?

  • Fight Gone Bad

When did you start coming to CrossFit Dublin?

  • November 2011

When did you realise CrossFit was right for you?

  • From the get go. I’ve never needed any motivation to attend a class –  walking out of the gym knowing that I’ve pushed myself is enough to get me back in there the next day.

What are your short term and long term goals of CrossFit?

  • Short Term: Kipping Pull Ups without the bands
  • Long term: RXing all WODs.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

  • Getting double unders and I’m starting to get kipping pull ups…yay!

What is your favorite WOD/Movement(s)?

  • Thrusters (I do quite like Fran).

Least Favorite?

  • Overhead Squats and Pistols

What do you do for a profession outside of CrossFit?

  • I work as an Account Manager in Facebook. Crossfit has really helped me avoid the Facebook 15 (gaining 15lb due to unlimited free food and snacks)
