On Location with CrossFit South London
A founding concept of CrossFit was the idea that the fitness programme in the box would prepare you for whatever hobby, sport, activity or emergency you faced outside of it. That is to say that the constantly varied and functional nature of CrossFit should leave its athletes strong enough and fit enough to help them express themselves in whatever it is they truly love. Whether it’s snowboarding, 5-a-side football, hill walking or swimming with sharks you can do it better…with CrossFit.
A very attractive and marketable notion I grant you, but nevertheless this was and is one of the aims of all CrossFit programmes and it’s with this in mind that I write this blog. It’s time to get out of the box and put the thrusting, toes to bar, burpees and barbell complexes to the test. In the next few weeks you’ll see posts on the CFSL Facebook page and in the box about upcoming trips. All you need to do is register your interest using the sign-up sheets on the whiteboard in the gym and we’ll organise the rest.
In addition to this, we plan to run track sessions at the Battersea Park running track. If you are interested in lacing up your old spikes and getting out onto the track, there will be a sheet on the whiteboard for you to sign up. Once we’ve gauged interest we will put forward days.
I can’t recommend highly enough taking up the opportunity to put your fitness to the test outside the gym and we welcome suggestions for possible ways to do this. If nothing else, it’s the perfect excuse to get to know more members in the gym and have a few drinks together, building on the already amazing community.
