The following features are what set us apart from any other fitness facility.
We are a school of fitness, which means our classes look a lot different than aerobics, bodypump, bootcamp or any other group exercise class. We look to empower our clients with the knowledge they need to reach optimal health and maintain it for years to come.
Yes, you will eventually have the option to graduate to CrossFit group classes; however, before that we need to ensure that you are both competent in the CrossFit movements and fit enough to safely join group classes.
With that in mind, you will start off by completing 10-20 one-on-one or two-on-one private training sessions.
During your personal training sessions (the number depends on your personal fitness level and physical abilities), you will become familiar with movements used in CrossFit, such as Olympic weightlifting, power lifting, gymnastics and rowing. You will also learn about mobility, injury prevention and nutrition.
The purpose of doing personal training prior to group classes is three-fold:
First, CrossFit is incredibly technical – it’s like learning an entirely new sport – so the same way you wouldn’t throw someone off the street onto the Senior Rugby team, we don’t throw people who have never done clean and jerks, snatches and pull ups right into the fire of group classes. Instead, we take the time to properly teach you the movements so you’re confident and safe in your abilities by the time you begin group classes.
Second, one-on-one personal training allows us to address your individual needs. Everybody needs to work at a different pace, and we want to keep you injury-free to increase your longevity.
Third, we believe relationships you build with the people around you are going to enrich your life, and your relationship with your coach is no different. We want to get to know you, your fitness goals, your life goals, what’s going on in your life at the moment, and what you need from us to help you succeed.
Don’t worry – we won’t abandon you after you graduate from personal training. Even once you’ve graduated to group classes, you will stay in contact with your coach.
Once a quarter (or more if you want), you will continue to meet with your coach in a one-on-one environment.
Having a coach for life helps you stay on track with your training and your goals.
Often what happens once students enter group classes, they discover new weaknesses, and so refresher sessions with your coach help you tackle new challenges.
Also, once you have been in classes for a while, you may want to do some more specialty work, such as begin a strength program. Your coach will put together strength or skill-based additional programs for you once you get to that point.
We have found that students that forge good relationships with their coaches, both at the gym and socially, are more likely to stick on the path to improved fitness, and ultimately the path to a healthier, happier life.
There are many elements that go into making a world-class facility. From the training components like having enough space and equipment to practical components like free parking. Our facility has all the necessary components to help you get fit and stay fit for life.
We use your body and real weights to create free, natural movement. We only have machines that mimic functional movement, and none of those that don’t contribute to overall health and a lean, conditioned body. We welcome you to take a look around our box and our equipment – you won’t see full length mirrors but you’ll see results in your own mirror and in the fit of your clothes when you make the move to functional fitness.
The strength in our CrossFit lies in our community. From BBQs to Christmas parties to local Throwdowns, our members are more than just fitness junkies.
Fitness is something that should make your life better; it’s not something we think should dominate your life. We believe it’s important to be well-rounded people who know how to let loose, have a drink and socialize with friends. And, we have learned that members who are engaged in the community are more likely to want to show up to workout – because they show up not just to workout, but also to enjoy themselves socially.
